Mapping it Out | How to Use Projection Mapping for Events

September 5, 2025  by Alaina Salas

A very intriguing way we help our clients add visual interest to their corporate events is through projection mapping. Digitally mapped, calculated, and designed projections with pinpoint accuracy that can enhance almost any surface are a surefire way to not only ‘WOW!’ your audience, but to keep them talking beyond the conference.

Dining Tables:

Make projection mapping more of a personal experience for your audience by putting it right under their nose, literally. Our client, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), wanted to incorporate projection mapping into their Annual Meeting to celebrate its 125th-anniversary. It was a unique way to involve their audience throughout the week. Tri-Marq created projection mapping on 32 dining tables and used the surface throughout the week-long conference. We illuminated the tables for evening entertainment, speaker introductions during sessions, and sponsor branding. With custom animation to match speaker presentations adorning their table and plates, the audience members were part of the entertainment.

Unique Shapes & Cakes:

In addition to the meticulously planned projection for the table settings, Tri-Marq’s creative and technical teams built a 5-foot tall ‘cake’ structure and created 3D content for the projection mapping onto it. From fireworks, lit candles and even Pac Man, our creativity was boundless. The projection mapping was icing on the ‘cake’ to commemorate AEM’s 125 years in business.

Buildings & Large Surfaces:

To introduce the nominees and winners at the CoPa Arty Bullocks Ball, we created a piece of art of our own through projection mapping. As the kick-off of the event, our goal was to go above and beyond to captivate the audience.

When projecting on a building, the architecture itself becomes part of the canvas. We embraced the building’s features—its windows, doors, and structural details—integrating them seamlessly into the visual design. Every element was considered from the perspective of how it would appear once projected and viewed in real space. The result was an immersive display that transformed the event and venue into living artwork. In celebrating the art and artists, we wanted to delight the audiences with a stunning visual experience.

Set Tiles

Leaving projection screens in the past, Tri-Marq designers and technical directors can turn a flat wall into an interactive visual experience. Our client, TASC, wanted something a little more than the average projector presentation, so we knew that projection mapping could level up their conference. We mapped individual images onto each set tile, allowing for a fully customizable graphic backdrop. The wall behind the speaker was capable of displaying graphics, videos, and even visually blocking out the presenter from the rest of the presentation to act as a larger display for the audience.

However you choose to incorporate projection mapping into your event, let Tri-Marq’s experts handle the details so you can focus on your attendees.
