Meet Tom Hillmeyer, one of our Technical Directors here at Tri-Marq. Tom has been a part of the Tri-Marq team for the past five years. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Tom’s passion for video production began at an early age, leading him to Marquette University, where he majored in Digital Media and minored in Advertising. During his time at Marquette, Tom served as the Remote Broadcast Coordinator for MUTV, where he led teams that received awards from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and the Midwest Broadcast Journalist Association for their student-run broadcasts of Marquette women’s basketball and volleyball. He even spearheaded the first fully student-run broadcast of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament during its first two rounds in Milwaukee.
Tom was also a key contributor to transitioning Marquette’s television studios to high definition and introducing a virtual production studio. Beyond MUTV, he worked with Marquette Athletics, producing video features for sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse. During his college years, Tom gained industry experience through several internships, most notably with NBC Golf Channel, where he produced video content for social media, broadcast, and the GOLFPASS streaming service.
After graduating, Tom joined Tri-Marq and quickly transitioned from video production to live event planning, designing, and execution. He thrives on solving unique technical challenges in creative ways and credits his love of collaboration to his incredible team of resourceful colleagues. One of his favorite projects at Tri-Marq was producing the AEM Annual Conference in Indian Wells, CA. The ambitious stage design and challenging execution allowed him to witness his teammates’ expertise shine in extraordinary ways. Another highlight of Tom’s career is producing live broadcasts of the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh airshows. As an aviation enthusiast, Tom loves pushing creative boundaries—whether it’s placing cameras in unique locations, designing dynamic live graphics, or tackling long-distance video transmission.
When he’s not behind the scenes solving technical challenges, Tom’s life is filled with adventures. A proud Marquette alum, Tom is a Marquette basketball fan, a follower of Formula One, and a dedicated supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals. Thanks to his work (and an abundance of airline miles), Tom has traveled to 10 countries and visited over a dozen National Parks, with Zion being his favorite. One of his most memorable trips was a week-long campervan adventure with his brothers, where they visited all five of Utah’s National Parks. In his downtime, Tom co-hosts an online trivia night with a college friend, where they livestream questions and run a custom-built app for participants.
Tom’s guiding principle comes from President Bartlet’s quote in The West Wing: “Decisions are made by those who show up.” This motto perfectly captures Tom’s proactive, problem-solving approach and his commitment to always stepping up to the challenge.
With his innovative thinking and passion for live production, Tom continues to elevate Tri-Marq’s projects, making them more dynamic and boundary-pushing. We’re lucky to have him as a key part of our team!
