In the years since our last ‘Meet the team’ series, Tri-Marq has welcomed some new members to the team. In the coming months, we’ll be introducing the lovely faces behind Tri-Marq, some of which will be familiar. Following along to find out more about Milwaukee’s favorite production team. Kicking off our series is Jen Harper:
Jen is our Event Production Coordinator, whose creative vision and wide-range of experiences have been a valued addition to Tri-Marq events over the past two years. She grew up on the west-side of Madison and started theater at a young age, studying under Nancy Thurrow in the Children’s Theater of Madison’s summer school program. She pursued her passion for theater management by earning a BFA from Brooklyn College, while honing her skills as a theatrical lighting designer under the guidance of Tony award-winning designers Beverly Emmons and Ken Billington.
A desire to learn more about film and television production led her to the Director’s Guild of America’s two-year training program for film and television assistant directors, where she worked on some well-known productions including “The Thomas Crown Affair,” “The Sopranos,” and “Law and Order: SVU.” Jen’s expertise in event operations management was further refined during her tenures at Columbia University’s Miller Theater, Princeton University’s Richardson Auditorium, and UW-Madison’s Wisconsin Film Festival. Tri-Marq’s creative and boundary-pushing projects drew Jen to our company. Recently, she helped plan an event featuring an intelligent water curtain inside a third-floor ballroom, which is just the kind of organizational challenge she craves.
Outside of the office, Jen’s life is filled with diverse experiences and cherished moments. From her days as show choir president in high school, to producing a local cable access television series called “Talk of the Town” during college, Jen has always embraced creative expression. Her personal life is marked by milestones like her marriage to Aaron Harper in New York’s Central Park, the couple’s adoption of a pair of tuxedo kittens orphaned in New Jersey by Hurricane Sandy, and the purchase of their first home just outside Madison, complete with the quintessential riding lawn mower and septic tank. Jen and Aaron love to spend time on their shared passions, including travel, museum visits, live performances, outdoor adventures, and quiet moments spent reading or watching movies.
Jen has a couple quotes that she chooses to live by. The first is by the French philosopher and historian, Voltaire, “No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking.” And secondly, the brief but poignant words of her father, John Acomb, “There are always options.” Jen’s creativity, expertise, and organized mind is a driving force behind our success at Tri-Marq. We are privileged to have her on our team, creating unforgettable experiences for our clients and pushing the boundaries of event production with every project.
