Meet the Staff | Betsy Johnson

June 27, 2025  by Alaina Salas

Betsy Johnson is our Vice President of New Business and has been a cornerstone of Tri-Marq since 2000, bringing over 25 years of dedication, energy, and heart to the team. A proud Marquette University alumna, Betsy studied Communication and Journalism, laying the foundation for a career built on authentic connection. Recruited by her older brother Chris and longtime friend Jim, she initially thought she’d stay at Tri-Marq for just a few years to learn the ropes. Two and a half decades later, she’s still here, and still loving it. Before joining Tri-Marq, Betsy built a strong foundation in leadership and community engagement through her roles as Development Director at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Executive Director of Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens, and Special Events Director at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Wisconsin Chapter. Whether it’s collaborating with clients or mentoring colleagues, Betsy’s passion for people and storytelling has never wavered. Her greatest joy lies in helping clients succeed and grow, always guided by her belief in the power of human connection.

Outside the office, Betsy keeps her life full of movement and creativity. She’s an avid traveler who’s explored Portugal, Italy, Spain, France, Costa Rica, and Ireland, with many more destinations on her list. Whether she’s biking or playing pickleball with her partner Brett, laughing with friends and family, volunteering on local boards, or curling up with a good book (recent favorites include A Gentleman in Moscow and West with Giraffes), Betsy finds joy in the everyday. She’s a passionate gardener, a budding painter, a devoted dog lover, and an unapologetic fan of unique ice cream flavors—especially “THIS $&@! JUST GOT SERIOUS®” from Joy Ice Cream Social and Purple Door’s salted caramel.

Betsy lives by these words from Maya Angelou: “Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women.” It’s a sentiment that reflects both her personal strength and her commitment to lifting up those around her. With her warmth, drive, and deep-rooted belief in the importance of connection, Betsy continues to shape Tri-Marq’s story in meaningful ways.

Updating our staff headshots and photography with the amazing @remikerphotography before "sailing" on the river with @mkeduffy with a quick stop at @lakefrontbrewery, it was an exciting and relaxing couple of days soaking up the end of summer with our staff! ☀️⛵

We shot this project in-studio and in-camera to perfect the black limbo effect. Using clean, crisp typography and illustrations, we highlighted the light's features/benefits. Other tricks we used: haze machine, jib arm, dolly, and a little bit of stop motion—just for fun.

We created a series of how to videos for @peakauto over a decade ago, featuring @joecab0311 , whose face you might recognize from Chicago Fire. This plant tour video for our client, Creation Technologies, was shot with 2 cameras and a small crew to stay mobile throughout the active floor while still highlighting the capabilities and unique qualities of their site.
